The 2018 Michigan Student Symposium for Interdisciplinary Statistical Sciences (MSSISS) student committee is pleased to announce that MSSISS 2018 will be held on Monday, April 2 - Tuesday, April 3 at the University of Michigan. We are fortunate to have Professor Xiao-Li Meng from Harvard University as the keynote speaker this year.

MSSISS is an annual event with the goal of creating an environment that allows communication across related fields of statistical sciences and promoting interdisciplinary research among graduate students and faculty. This is a fantastic opportunity for graduate students to present their research on statistical methods or applications, receive feedback, and build connections.
The symposium registration is free.

It will feature several graduate student poster sessions and oral presentations (15-20 minutes), and this year includes a speed oral poster session, where students will be able to give a five-minute elevator pitch on the highlights of their posters.

There will be several awards this year, including best speed oral poster, best oral presentation, best department poster, and a best overall poster! This is a great way to gain experience presenting your research and it's always nice to be able to add another conference (and maybe even award!) to your CV.

All students are encouraged to submit abstracts or register for the symposium on the MSSISS website: https://sites.lsa.umich.edu/mssiss/
